Militant Islamist forces are already engaged in attempts to retake some of the areas that they have lost over the last week and clashes are still ongoing. They have also dug themselves in in areas where they are strong including the infamous Al-Laithi district. They are also still in control of the Benghazi port.
For all that Operation Dignity units may be engaged in combing operations, working their way through neighbourhoods in a bid to root out militants, the Benghazi Revolutionaries Shura Council is not a defeated or even defeatable force yet. Islamist fighters have already launched a counter attack to try to take back the 17th February Camp and are still engaged in clashes in other parts of the city. Moreover, these forces and groups and in some cases their ideology are deeply entrenched in those neighbourhoods known to be Islamist strongholds.
