This week saw the killing of another female activist. On 24 February Intisar Al-Hasairi, who worked on human rights and cultural issues, was shot dead while she was driving with her aunt in the Abu Slim area of Tripoli. Both women were killed in the attack. No one has claimed responsibility for Al-Hasairi’s death. However, it is widely presumed to be the work of Islamist militants, especially given that Al-Hasairi chose not to wear the hijab.
