In Derna, another non-state actor, Ansar Al Sharia, has re-emerged in the city as an active social society. The group put up various advisory billboards and conducted a number of social volunteering events with young people. The place and timing of the re-emergence of the group in Derna is raising concerns, and in the context of Sunday’s suicide attack in the rear of the DMSC forces, is highly suspicious. The re-emergence of Ansar Al Sharia, and the recent good-will campaign by DMSC council in rehabilitating IS soldiers who submit to the Council, are seen with intense distrust by HoR and Haftar-affiliated forces.
