On 30 June, the Vilamoura, a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker, suffered an explosion off Libya’s coast travelling from Zueitina port en route to Gibraltar carrying a cargo of 1 million barrels of oil. According to the operator TMS Tankers, no personnel have been injured and no oil spills or other pollution have been reported so far. The tanker is being towed to Greece, where it is due to arrive on 2 July. The unexplained explosion occurred in the engine room.
