In the early hours of 13 June, there were mobilisations of armed vehicles and fighters in Tajoura, east of Tripoli, by rival militias and groups in the town. The mobilisations were in response to a decision allegedly issued by Libyan Intelligence Service (LIS) head Hussein al-Ain dismissing Muhammed al-Sharif, known as al-Zamrina, who had been the head of the East Tripoli office and replacing him with Abdul Rahim Bin Salem as part of a broad restructuring within the service.

Ben Salim reportedly assumed his new duties with a force of approximately 2,500 personnel while fighters loyal to al-Zamrina also mobilised. The measures included the dissolution of the National Security Directorate in Tajoura and the Special Tasks Directorate, with their responsibilities being redistributed among other departments. It was also reported that al-Aib tasked the Presidential Guard commander, Ayoub Abu Ras, with securing the agency’s headquarters. The situation was diffused later the same day, but tensions remain high.
