On 10 December, Military Intelligence Director and Commander of the 444 Brigade Mahmoud Hamza met in Tunis with Tunisian Minister of Defense Khaled Sehili discussing military cooperation between Libya and Tunisia. The main areas covered were training, combatting terrorism and cross-border crime (especially drug-trafficking), illegal migration and the exchange of expertise to develop operational capabilities. Hamza praised the ‘deep-rooted brotherly relations’ between Tunisia and Libya. He emphasized the need to work on enhancing bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of training and education.
During his visit to Tunisia, Hamza also met with the Director of the Tunisian Intelligence Agency the Chief of Staff of the Tunisian Army LTG Muhammed Ghoul.
During these meetings, the danger of a return of Tunisian and Libyan ISIS terrorists from Syria to their home countries was discussed.
