On 15 May, a Libyan National Army (LNA) checkpoint was attacked near the border with Chad by a rebel group from Chad. A number of LNA fighters were wounded or killed. Some LNA fighters were kidnapped and taken away by the Chadians. The facilities at the checkpoint were destroyed.

On 16 May, LNA Special Forces detected and attacked the Chadian rebel group that raided the LNA checkpoint the day before. The operation resulted in the liberation of the LNA fighters who had been captured by the Chadians. The LNA forces inflicted ‘significant casualties’ on the enemy and captured their leader, along with several others. One LNA soldier was killed in the fight. The LNA General Command said that ground and air reconnaissance units are continuing search operations to track down remnants of the Chadian opposition and to monitor any suspicious movements in the surrounding areas in order to fully secure the border strip.
