On 3 May, Essam Omeish, head of the Libyan-American Alliance (LAA), said in an interview that the LAA had recently launched a new case related to the crimes of the Wagner Group during the assault on Tripoli in 2019 – 2020, in partnership with Khalifa Haftar’s forces and under the leadership of Saddam Haftar. Khalifa and Saddam Haftar are directly named in the case. Omeish explained that as soon as Saddam Haftar arrived in Washington, there was an immediate opportunity for his legal team and his subordinates to deliver notice of the existence of such a case in American courts directly to the defendant in this case, noting that Saddam Haftar is also a US citizen.
