Journalist abducted by ISA in the east

On 18 September, Libyan journalist Ikram Rajab was arbitrarily arrested by the Internal Security Agency (ISA) from her house in Benghazi. Libyan Crime Watch (LCW) said she had posted on her Facebook account that she was being followed by cars belonging to the ISA, before communication was cut off and the post was deleted. The LCW said that a day after Ikram’s arrest, Libyan National Army (LNA) forces attacked Rajab’s family, storming their home at gunpoint, assaulting a child, intimidating women, and seizing personal belongings of the victim. The organisation denounced her arrest, calling on authorities in eastern Libya to immediately disclose Rajab’s fate and ensure her safety, urging her unconditional and immediate release.

Reports on social media claim that Rajab has died during interrogation by the eastern ISA, but this is unverified. Neither the ISA nor LNA has commented on the issue.
