On 7 July, Libyan National Army (LNA) Deputy Commander Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar received the AISE delegation led by AISE Director Lieutenant General Giovanni Caravelli, at his office at the headquarters of the LNA General Command in Benghazi. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the LNA and Italy in a manner that serves their mutual interests, in addition to reviewing efforts to combat terrorism and curb illegal immigration. Saddam Haftar expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Italy, under the leadership of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, for its stance toward Libya, noting the distinguished ties between the two friendly peoples. For his part, Caravelli reaffirmed Italy’s support for efforts aimed at unifying institutions in Libya, thereby ensuring lasting stability.
