On 14 September, the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced that the trial of Khaled Mohamed Ali El Hishri will begin on 4 May 2027. El Hishri faces 17 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed at Mitiga Prison between 1 May 2014 and 30 June 2020. According to the prosecution, the charges include murder, torture, rape, sexual violence and persecution. El Hishri has denied all the allegations against him.
