ICC prosecutor visits Libya ahead of UNSC briefing

On 18 November, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Karim Khan visited Tripoli. He met with Government of National Unity (GNU) PM Abdul Hameed Dabaiba, Presidential Council head Menfi and the Attorney General al-Siddiq al-Sour. Khan discussed cooperation and coordination between the Libyan judiciary and the ICC, especially with regard to the prosecution of criminals fleeing justice. Khan stressed the importance of cooperation with the Libyan judiciary, noting his intention to present a briefing to the Security Council on 19 November on the developments of the situation in Libya. Dabaiba and Menfi stressed the importance of adhering to the principle of international judicial integration and respecting the rule of law of Libya, reassuring that Libya is committed to holding the perpetrators of crimes and violations accountable.
