On 20 April, UK Ambassador Martin Reynolds met with Khalifa Haftar and Deputy Libyan National Army (LNA) Commander Saddam Haftar to discuss strengthening UK-Libya collaboration in defence cooperation and combatting illegal migration. Reynolds met separately with LNA Chief of Staff Khaled Haftar to discuss military training and combatting illegal migration.
On 22 April, UK Ambassador Reynolds met with Government of National Unity (GNU) Interior Minister Emad Trabelsi, discussing cooperation to tackle shared threats, including organised immigration crime.
On 21 April, Khalifa Haftar met with the Maltese Ambassador Franklin Aquilina, praising the strong historical ties between the two friendly nations and emphasizing the importance of strengthening these relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries. Aquilina affirmed the readiness of Maltese institutions and companies specializing in reconstruction and infrastructure to contribute to Libya’s development process. He also emphasized his country’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with the LNA in the security field, particularly in combating terrorism and illegal immigration, thereby contributing to stability in the Mediterranean region.
