On 31 October, the head of Libyan National Army (LNA), Khalifa Haftar, travelled to Jufra as an ongoing southern Libya tour where he gave a speech to local community and senior dignitaries declaring ‘We’ve no choice but to lead the decisive battle to liberate Libya’. Haftar is reported to have claimed the LNA would ‘move in line with the will of the Libyan people after all previous tracks brought us to a dead end and disappointing results’ and that ‘The Libyan people, who waited so long and sacrificed so much, will not allow those who put their interests above the nation’s to reap the dividends’.
