On 22 September, the head of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Khalifa Haftar, declared that he would be temporarily suspending his role as its leader for the the next three months, in what is assume to be a part of his intent to run for President in the national elections. In the decree, Haftar assigned Libyan Chief of Staff, Abdurrazaq al-Nadhouri, to take up the duties of the Commander in Chief of the LNA for a period of three months from 23 September through to 24 December.
