On 8 January, the GNU Chief of General Staff, Mohammed Haddad, met with the Libyan National Army (LNA) Chief of Staff, Abdurrazaq al-Nadhouri, in Sirte’s al-Mahari Hotel to discuss military reunification steps. Several senior LNA commanders and western region armed group leaders were in attendance, as well as representatives of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC). According to reports, the discussions focused on developing a plan to integrate and organize Libya’s armed groups and the formation of joint committees in order to do so.
