On 13 April, Chief of Staff Muhammed Haddad met with his eastern counterpart, LNA Chief of Staff Abdurrazaq al-Nadhouri, in Benghazi as part of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) meetings on the reunification of Libya’s military and security institutions. The two leaders discussed the establishment of a joint military force, as well as other technical issues relating to military salaries and graduates. During the meeting, Haddad expressed his support for the upcoming elections, reaffirming that he would not be part of any civil war. He added that it was time for stability in Libya following years of conflict that was ‘backed by a hidden agenda seeking to implement dark projects’. Meanwhile, Nadhouri said the military institution would never be a ‘tool’ in any political disputes, adding that the military leaders can overcome any disagreements.
