On 15 April, the Government of National Unity (GNU) said it was following the ‘unfortunate events’ taking place in Khartoum, urging all parties to take the necessary measures to protect civilians and resume peace talks. This came after clashes erupted in Khartoum on 15 April between the Sudanese Army, led by military leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, better known as Hemedti.
