On 26 July, the GNU Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant-General Mohammed al-Haddad, the GNU Chief of Land Forces al-Fitouri Gribel, the GNU Commander of the Tripoli Military Region, and the 444 Brigade Commander Mohammed Hamza allegedly arrived in Moscow for meetings with Russian officials. The day before, on 25 July, the Director of Khalifa Haftar’s private office Lieutenant-General Khairi al-Tamimi confirmed that he had led an LNA delegation to meet Russian officials in Moscow last week. The Director of the LNA’s Moral Guidance Department Major-General Khaled al-Mahjoub claimed that the discussions had included Russia reiterating its willingness to assist efforts for Libya to achieve stability and the need for foreign forces and mercenaries to depart Libya in accordance with the ceasefire agreement in Geneva last year.
