On 17 April, Government of National Stability (GNS) Prime Minister Osama Hammad and Belqasim Khalifa Haftar, Executive Director Development & Reconstruction Fund, arrived in Libya’s southeastern district of al-Jawf/Kufra. They met with the municipal council, nobles and elders of the local al-Zwai tribe and the Tebu people, among others. They also met local security leaders and visited several facilities. A main topic of the discussions was the impact of the refugees from Sudan on the situation in Kufra.

On 22 April, GNS Minister of Health Othman Abdul Jalil estimated that the number of Sudanese who have been displaced to Kufra is approximately 40,000 people, though he said it is hard to know exact numbers. Abdul Jalil’s delegation to Kufra was accompanied by the Commander of the Libyan National Army’s (LNA) Land Forces Operations, Saddam Haftar.
