On 9 October, the head of the EU Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM) Libya Mission Natalina Cea and the Head of EU Affairs Department of the Government of National Unity’s (GNU) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdurrhaman Khamada, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on joint cooperation. The signing ceremony was attended by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Taher al-Bahour and by the Head of the European delegation to Libya, Ambassador Nicola Orlando.
EUBAM said that the Memorandum ‘aims at strengthening the cooperation and coordination between EUBAM Mission and Libyan institutions in managing and securing Libyan borders and in fighting against border crimes and terrorism.’ It also ‘enhances the partnership between the Mission and the Libyan relevant authorities with a view to facilitating the delivery of technical assistance, capacity building and training by the Mission’ as well as enhancing cross-border cooperation with Libya’s neighbouring countries.
