On 9 October, Government of National Unity (GNU) Prime Minister Abdul Hameed Dabaiba told foreign ambassadors and guests at a conference on aviation in Tripoli that Benghazi has been witnessing ‘exceptional events and armed confrontations for several days inside a civilian neighbourhood’ and claiming that the communication networks have been deliberately disconnected. He said those responsible for endangering the lives of civilians in Benghazi must be held accountable.
Later the same day, Dabaiba called on the Attorney General to open an investigation into the clashes in Benghazi, after reports of armed confrontations and the deliberate disconnection of telecommunications networks.
