Clashes in Sebha between LNA and GNU-aligned forces

On 13 December, clashes broke out in Sebha between the Libyan National Army (LNA)’s 115 Brigade and Tariq Bin Ziyad Brigade (TBZ) on one side, and the Government of National Unity (GNU) aligned 116 Brigade, led by Masoud al-Jadi.The clashes reportedly erupted after LNA forces seized 11 police vehicles that had been sent to the Sebha Security Directorate by the GNU and transferred them to the Brak al-Shatti base. Jadi’s 116 Brigade reportedly attempted to storm the headquarters of the Military Intelligence and other sites under the control of LNA forces. Shelling was reported and civilians evacuated the al-Qarda area. A civilian was reportedly killed and two were injured in the crossfire. Initial reports on 14 December indicated that the city was under the control of the 116 Brigade and that the LNA-affiliated 115 Brigade and TBZ had been ejected.Since then, there have been reports that LNA reinforcements have arrived in the Abdel Kafi district of Sebha from Tamanhint and have retaken their positions and that the 116 Brigade has withdrawn.
