On 11 January, some heavy fighting with light and medium infantry weapons took place west of al Ajaylat (southwest of Sabratha) between Othman al-Lahab’s al-Kabwat (or al-Sila’a or 103rd Infantry Brigade) and the local al-Shalfouh militia. Three people were killed, five wounded in the fighting.

The following day, the National Institution for Human Rights in Libya (NIHRL) blamed West Coast Military District Commander and Libyan Army Deputy CoS Salaheddin al-Namroush for the recent armed clashes and violence in al-Ajilat by stating: ‘We hold the Commander of the West Coast Military District fully responsible for the actions of the 103rd Infantry Brigade in their recent attack.’

On 12 and 13 January in the evening, the fighting in al-Ajilat resumed. As of 13 January in the late evening, the West Coast Military District had not intervened to stop fighting.
