On 20 September, Presidential Council Deputy Abdullah al-Lafi visited the headquarters of the 4th Infantry Brigade in al-Aziziyah, south-west of Tripoli. According to an official statement, al-Lafi met with the commander of the Western (Mountain) Military Region, Osama Juwaili, and a number of officers. The aim of the visit was to review conditions in the Jabal Nafusa region. Al-Lafi discussed with Juwaili efforts to support the military establishment and reviewed the work of the Libyan Army units in the region.
Furthermore, they discussed the coordination between the Libyan Army and other security units and formations within the Western (Mountain) Military Region in accordance with the laws and the military regulations. Juwaili briefed Al-Lafi about operations and training of all units. He emphasized that they are all committed to military discipline and professional military standards. In the course of his conversation with Juwaili, al-Lafi also reportedly tried to broker an agreement between Prime Minister Abdul Hameed Dabaiba and Juwaili that would allow Juwaili’s return to Tripoli.
