On 24 April, the al-Gomati family announced the release of Muhammed al-Gomati nearly a month after he was kidnapped from his house, thanks to the efforts of the Attorney General’s Office. The statement said that Muhammed was detained without due process, was prevented from communicating with his family or lawyer, and was denied his most basic health and legal rights. His brother is the anti-corruption activist Hussam al-Gomati.
