On 14 October, Government of National Unity (GNU) PM Abdul Hameed Dabaiba received Maltese Minister of Interior Glenn Bedingfield in Tripoli alongside GNU Minister of Interior Emad Trabelsi and several other high-level officials. They discussed the issue of illegal migration and enhancing bilateral cooperation between Libya and Malta. The ministers reviewed the results of consultations between the two parties, which included activating the joint Libyan-Malta committee, enhancing communication and coordination between the relevant authorities, and expanding areas of security cooperation between the two countries.
On 15 October, a spokesman for the Maltese Ministry of Home Affairs announced a programme worth 500,000 Euros to train their Libyan counterparts in law enforcement, handling small boats, maintenance, and maritime rescue operations as part of cooperation between the two countries. It will reportedly be implemented in cooperation with the Czech Republic.
Illegal migration was also discussed during a meeting between the new House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker and the Greek Consul in Benghazi, as well as in a meeting between PM Dabaiba and the Turkish intelligence chief. The GNU readout said they discussed the illegal migration file and ways to enhance cooperation within the Quadruple migration mechanism comprising Libya, Turkey, Italy and Qatar.
