On 29 September, Government of National Unity (GNU) Minister of Interior Emad al-Trabelsi met with US Advisor Massad Boulos in Washington DC as well as Wayne Wall, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Middle East and African Affairs at the National Security Council. The discussions focused on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries’ security institutions, the security cooperation agreement, capacity building for security agencies, and the exchange of expertise. Additionally, the parties addressed the issue of irregular migration—including efforts to combat it and mitigate its consequences—as well as the strengthening of border security and the capabilities of the relevant institutions in managing this file.
