In Tubruq, the eastern Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency conducted extensive security operations over a 48-hour period, resulting in the detention of 3,061 migrants. It was framed as part of an intensified local enforcement campaign targeting undocumented residency and cross-border movement. Migrant groups say police and mobs of citizens reportedly acted together to hunt down ‘migrants,’ rounding them up for deportation by force.
The agency said that following the arrests, the necessary measures will be taken regarding the detainees, including shelter, conducting the necessary health examinations and procedures, and completing the files and legal procedures, in preparation for commencing deportation operations, each according to nationality, through the land and air ports and in coordination with the competent authorities.
In Benghazi, the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency said it detained 258 irregular migrants during coordinated security sweeps across Benghazi aimed at regulating residency status and curbing illegal migration channels.
