On 6 September, the Al-Ajilat Criminal Court sentenced a defendant to death by firing squad for murder. According to a statement from the Office of the Attorney General, the Public Prosecution had initiated criminal proceedings against the accused in connection with the killing of a man. At its most recent hearing, the court found him guilty and imposed the death sentence. It also handed down a three‑year prison term for possessing unlicensed firearms.
