On 7 August, Director of the Libyan Intelligence Service (LIS; also ‘General Intelligence Service’) – according to the Benghazi-ruling and the statement House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker Aqeela Saleh – Lieutenant General Hussein al-Aib visited Athens, Greece, where he met with Greek intelligence director Themistoklis Demiris. They produced agreements on stronger coordination, information sharing and regular consultations, an outcome which might be seen as politically significant given ongoing competition for legitimacy within Libya and the strategic importance of Greek‑Libyan cooperation on maritime borders, migration, energy, and Mediterranean security.
