On 21 July, the Libyan National Army (LNA) signed a border security deal with an unnamed private Turkish company to implement an advanced land border management and surveillance system to assist with monitoring and control over Libya’s southern borders. The LNA said the project contract covers over 275 kilometres of Libya’s southern land borders (out of a total Libyan land boundary length of roughly 4,350 km) and comes as part of its ‘Vision 2030’ framework. No further details were made available for the comprehensive border management project, however: official statements omitted details regarding the contract’s financial value, specific technologies, and completion timeline.
