On 6 July, Presidential Council (PC) head Muhammed al-Menfi met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres in Geneva, accompanied by the newly appointed Libyan Intelligence Service (LIS) head Abdul Majid al-Mleqta. Discussions focused on developments in the Libyan political process and UN efforts to support an inclusive, Libyan-led path that preserves the state’s unity and sovereignty and the stability of its institutions. It is unusual that an intelligence head would attend a politically-focused meeting. Mleqta is reportedly expected to meet with his Swiss counterpart during the visit.
