On 24 June, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir received Libyan National Army (LNA) Deputy Commander Saddam Haftar at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
Upon his arrival at the GHQ, Haftar was welcomed by a prestigious Guard of Honour by a tri-services contingent, signaling the high importance Pakistan places on its relationship with Libya. The talks between the two senior leaders focused on expanding institutional ties and on contemporary security challenges. Both sides emphasized a shared commitment to broadening military-to-military engagement, particularly by expanding joint collaboration in professional military training, security coordination, and the exchange of strategic expertise.
Munir and Saddam Haftar reviewed recent geopolitical developments and regional security dynamics. The Pakistani Field Marshal reaffirmed the Pakistan Armed Forces’ commitment to fostering constructive engagement and defense diplomacy with friendly nations to support long-term regional stability. Saddam Haftar praised the operational excellence and professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces, acknowledging their contributions to regional peace, and highlighted the LNA’s desire to build an enduring partnership.
