On 18 May, the Tripoli Court of Appeal acquitted former Qadhafi intelligence chief Abdullah al‑Senussi of all charges tied to the 2011 crackdown on protesters, issuing its decision in Case No. 630, which examined allegations of violence against demonstrators during the uprising that toppled Muammar Qadhafi. The ruling, as relayed by his lawyer Ahmed Nashad, also cleared Mansour Dhao and Saif al‑Islam Qadhafi, removing all remaining defendants from the case. Al‑Senussi had faced around 26 charges, making the verdict a major turning point in one of Libya’s longest‑running legal files linked to the 17 February revolution. However, al-Senussi has not been released, as the Abu Salim prison case, concerning the 1996 massacre, remains under judicial review with no final judgment issued.
