This week, the position of Salahadeen al-Namroush as West Coast Military District Commander appears to have been strengthened through various official meetings.
On 28 April, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Abdul Hameed Dabaiba met with Ministry of Defence Undersecretary for Regions and Military Affairs Abdul Salam Zoubi and Libyan Army Acting Chief of Staff and West Coast Military District Commander Lieutenant General Salahadeen al-Namroush to review the condition and readiness of Libya’s military establishment. The meeting focused on training and qualification programs, broader military capability development, and strengthening international defense partnerships to modernize the armed forces. They also examined the financial situation of military personnel, stressing the need for clear mechanisms to settle outstanding entitlements and ensure regular payment in order to support stability and overall readiness.
On 29 April, the head of the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) Abdullah Qaderbouh met in Tripoli with Zoubi and al-Namroush to review contracts, monitor project implementation, and assess the overall performance of the Ministry of Defense and its affiliated units. The discussions covered financial and administrative oversight, final accounts, training and capacity‑building programs, and mechanisms to improve institutional efficiency and resource management. Qaderbouh emphasized the central role of the Contracts Department in ensuring compliance with legislation and safeguarding the integrity of procurement procedures. He reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to strengthening governance, discipline, and transparency across the defense sector to protect public funds and enhance institutional performance.
On 3 May, SRSG Hana Tetteh met with Osama Juwaili, Commander of the Western Military Zone, in Al-Aziziya as part of ‘the Mission’s engagement to engage key security actors of the implementation of UNSMIL’s roadmap.’ Discussions covered the security situation in the country, and the importance of advancing military unification.
