Tetteh chairs Security Working Group meeting in Benghazi

On 5 May, Security Working Group of the International Follow-up Committee on Libya of the Berlin Process joined members of the Structured Dialogue Security Track in Benghazi. In the session, chaired by SRSG Hana Tetteh and the Security Track bureau, Structured Dialogue members presented their findings and recommendations on election security, conflict prevention, and security sector governance. The session was attended in person by ambassadors and representatives of China, Egypt, France, Italy, Russia, Spain, Türkiye, the AU, and the EU, with broader engagement online, including representatives from Algeria, Germany, the League of Arab States, the Netherlands, Qatar, Switzerland, Tunisia, the UAE, the UK, and the U.S. Also in attendance was the Secretary General of the Libyan National Army (LNA) with Eastern members of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission.

Tetteh and her deputies also met with Belqasem Haftar, addressing recent political, economic, and security developments, as well as efforts to overcome the current impasse in preparation for national elections. They also discussed the importance of the unified public expenditure agreement.
