On 23 March, a brawl erupted on Tripoli’s Corniche between groups of Libyan teenagers and migrants who were attending a large annual Eid celebration attended by hundreds of migrants. The exact trigger for the fight remains unclear. Libya’s National Institution for Human Rights issued a firm condemnation of the incident, describing it as unacceptable and issuing a clear warning against any campaigns that fuel hatred, xenophobia, or discrimination toward foreigners and migrant communities. The institution called for accountability and efforts to prevent such incidents from escalating further.
