On 22 March, as part of the Eid occasion, Libyan National Army (LNA) Commander Khalifa Haftar delivered a speech on the sidelines of a meeting with elders and LNA officials. Haftar reiterated that the LNA stands ready to defend Libya and its borders. Haftar also praised the reconstruction and transformation into peace that has been possible under the security provided by the LNA.
As part of ongoing military restructuring, the LNA issued decree No. 69 for 2026 and appointed General Ahmed Salim Attiyallah as commander of the Southern Military Region (covering the Fezzan), replacing General Mabrouk Sahban. Meanwhile, Sahban has been transferred to command the central region Sirte-Jufra operation room. The LNA also appointed General Abdussalam al-Hassi as Chief of Staff of the Land Forces – he was previously the Deputy CoS of the Land Forces.
