On 7 March, a young man named Ali Ahmed Saeed from the Al-Hawamed area in Zawiyya was killed, and his companions were injured, after being shot by an armed group in Zawia city.
Overnight 8 to 9 March, heavy armed clashes erupted along Qanaa Street in Zawiyya between armed groups led by Muhammed Bahroun aka Al-Far and fighters affiliated with Mahmoud Bin Rajab. The clashes involved heavy gunfire and armed vehicles moving through the area, creating a tense security situation and forcing residents to remain indoors. A section of the coastal road at the traffic light known as the “Al-Daman” was closed temporarily. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Bahroun was seriously injured during the clashes. At least one armed man was killed during the clashes, resulting in the shooting escalating further. The clashes had calmed down by end of 9 March.
On 10 March, a young man named Nizar Hussein Al-Arifi was killed on Al-Jumla Street in Zawiya, after being struck by a bullet. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, including whether it was a stray bullet or a direct attack.
