On 20 February, the Benghazi Security Directorate detained Libyan actor Faraj Abdulkarim over his appearance in a scene in the Ramadan series ‘Hidrazi’ which reportedly offended the authorities in eastern Libya. The show airs on Al-Hadath and Al-Mustaqbal channels and was abruptly suspended after the first episode. Abdulkarim was later released and has announced his permanent retirement from acting.
