Turkey’s intelligence chief discusses security coordination with Dabaiba and al-Menfi in Tripoli

On 12 February, the Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin visited Tripoli where he met with Government of National Unity (GNU) PM Abdul Hameed Dabaiba, discussing the importance of strengthening coordinated international efforts to support the political process in Libya, contributing to national consensus and advancing the political process towards sustainable solutions that promote stability and preserve the country’s unity.

Kalin also met with Presidential Council (PC) head Muhammed al-Menfi, conveying the greetings of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and affirming Ankara’s commitment to continuing direct and regular consultations with the Libyan leadership to contribute to consolidating stability and advancing the political solution process. Kalin provided an update on the plane crash that resulted in the death of the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army Muhammed al-Haddad and several of his companions, as part of the ongoing follow-up and coordination between the two sides. Both sides stressed the importance of continued Libyan-Turkish consultations to ensure support for security and stability and to consolidate state institutions on solid foundations.
