On 3 February, a large-scale security operation carried out in Sebha led to the arrest of more than 2,000 irregular migrants of various nationalities. Several sites used as gathering points and shelters were dismantled. The operation was reportedly coordinated by Major General Abdulrahman al-Ansari, Director of the Illegal Migration Control Agency branch in the southern region, and Brigadier Ahmed Hassouna, Commander of the Security Operations Patrols.

On 4 February, Libya’s Coast Guard rescued 45 Sudanese migrants off the coast of Tubruq. Authorities confirmed that the migrants were later assisted with the support of the Libyan Red Crescent, and referred to the relevant bodies to complete the required legal and administrative procedures in line with national regulations.

On 5 February, Libyan authorities deported 136 irregular migrants of various nationalities as part of an operation coordinated by the Shahat branch of the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency. On the same day, the Derna branch of the agency deported 110 Bangladeshi migrants who had been detained while attempting to migrate irregularly via Libya’s coastline. Officials confirmed that some of those deported were subject to security restrictions, prompting additional checks before the completion of the process.

On 8 February, Libya’s Department for Combating Illegal Migration announced that it carried out new deportation operations involving dozens of irregular migrants, as part of wider efforts to strengthen public security and curb illegal migration flows. The Department’s Kufra branch deported 140 irregular migrants – some of which were reportedly suffering from infectious diseases – while the Department’s leadership confirmed the deportation of another 26 irregular migrants through the Umm Saad land border crossing. Among those deported were individuals subject to expulsion orders issued by the Public Prosecution.
