On several days throughout the last week, troops from Misrata – including a number of armoured vehicles – deployed to the capital area, while others redeployed from Tripoli back home. The main bases of the Misratan forces are in eastern Tajoura and southern Tripoli as well as at Tripoli International Airport. Additional troops from Misrata, including some tanks and artillery, were deployed to As Saddadah bridge on the southward road from Misrata to Abu Qurayn (Abu Grein) to provide an operational depth for defense against any eventual renewed offensive by the Libyan National Army (LNA) towards Tripoli. On 26 September, LNA Chief of Staff Khaled Haftar visited Sirte, inspecting the readiness of the LNA’s Central Military Region and Sirte Operations Room.
