On 4 September, the Berlin Process Security Working Group (SWG) co-chairs – SRSG Hanna Tetteh and the ambassadors of the African Union, France, Italy, Turkey, and the UK – held a meeting at UNSMIL’s HQ in Janzour in the presence of Libyan Army Chief of General Staff and head of the Truce Committee Muhammad al-Haddad, the Advisor to the head of the Presidential Council (PC), and a representative of the Security and Military Arrangements Committee. The SWG commended the efforts towards an agreement between the Government of National Unity (GNU) and Rada and urged a peaceful resolution of outstanding issues as soon as possible, as well as the timely and tangible implementation of any such agreement. They also encouraged the parties to remain calm and exercise restraint to prevent violence and harm to civilians.
