On 10 August, during his speech during an event to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Libyan armed forces, Libyan National Army (LNA) General Commander Khalifa Haftar officially appointed his son Saddam Haftar as Deputy General Commander of the LNA. Haftar said he is expected to play a central role in overseeing key operational priorities. Haftar also announced the launch of Vision 2030 for the Armed Forces, which aims to build a sophisticated army capable of facing regional and international challenges and maintaining security and stability in the homeland, emphasizing that the army is Libya’s security valve and the pillar of its national unity.
