The Government of National Unity (GNU) Ministry of Interior and the various new security committees designated with securing the capital and maintaining the peace are nominally still operating, but in reality the armed groups remain in control of the city.

On 31 July, a young man identified as Bashar Fahema was fatally shot while sitting inside his vehicle on Al-Sirem Street in Tripoli. The attacker remains unidentified.

On 4 August in the evening, Tajoura municipality witnessed angry protests as a number of citizens blocked the coastal road and set tires on fire, expressing their dissatisfaction with the frequent power outages that last for hours. These actions come amid a worsening electricity crisis in Tripoli, and several other Libyan cities, amid soaring temperatures and the General Electricity Company of Libya’s (GECOL) inability to provide effective solutions to technical malfunctions and recurring power outages.
