On 10 January, Tripoli’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) evacuated the Dhat al-Imad office complex following reports of a “terrorist” bomb threat. After the deployment of security forces to the area, CID declared the area safe and that “no security breach” had occurred.
On 11 January, the General Security Directorate, in cooperation with the Explosives Unit of the General Directorate of Diplomatic Security, defused an improvised explosive device (IED) in a deserted farm in the Ghot al-Shaal district of western Tripoli. The device was booby-trapped for remote detonation.
