On 7 March, the US company Culmen International received a US State Department Bureau of Counterterrorism and Countering Violent Extremism award to provide security to Mitiga, Tripoli International and Misrata airports. The contract involves the monitoring of terrorist threats, increasing airport security, and the creation of standard operation procedures against threats through training, equipment and assessment. It also involves the development of a national aviation security strategy.
On 8 March, the German-Libya Economic Forum took place in Tunis, with attendees including German Ambassador to Libya, Oliver Owcza, Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanallah, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Sadeeq al-Kabeer, and Vice-President of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Maiteeq. Discussions centred on Libyan stability and ways to conclude joint projects relating to health, transport, infrastructure, and energy. The establishment of industrial Libya-Germany partnerships and the ability to include them in economic reforms was also explored.
On 10 March, the head of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Serraj, met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani. The two discussed the current security and political developments in Libya and the two countries’ bilateral relationship. Tamim called for Libya to undertake renewed development and construction effort while also signalling his country’s support for a democratic process.
