On 7 September, the anti-LNA coalition launched a coordinated assault against LNA forces in southern Tripoli, attempting to make advances in Ain Zara, Wadi Rabea, Al-Khala, Espiaa and Souq al-Khamis while also expanding to al-Orban east of Ghariyan. While fighting was the most intense since the Eid al-Adha truce, no notable changes in territorial control occurred despite some temporary advances by both sides. The anti-LNA coalition is reported to have suffered 40 deaths, while the LNA causalities remain unknown.
On 7 September, at a media conference in the UAE, the Libyan National Army’s (LNA) spokesman, General Ahmed al-Mesmari, reiterated the LNA public position that “The battle [for Tripoli] is in its final phases” also saying “When the guns speak, diplomacy goes silent. The time of going back to dialogue is over… The military solution is the best solution to spread security and reimpose the law”.
